I'm Parul. A few years ago, I had Diabetes. Grade 2 Fatty Liver. Rheumatoid Arthritis so bad I couldn't close my fists some mornings. Overweight. Multiple medications. Exhausted in a way sleep couldn't fix.

My doctors "managed" me. I accepted it.

One afternoon, sitting in my car after a rheumatology appointment, I Googled "is rheumatoid arthritis permanent." Every result said yes. I sat there for twenty minutes. I didn't cry. I just felt a door close on a version of my life I'd assumed I'd get to live.
